One of the most important things a Christian can do is pray.
It doesn't have to be something that is complicated and difficult and it is something we can do anywhere at any time.
We have a prayer request box in the Gathering Area in the church building and our prayer group usually meets at 8am on Saturday mornings there. Anyone is welcome to come along.
If you have any prayer requests or would like more information about our prayer groups, simply send an email to prayers@tranentparishchurch.co.uk.

Tranent Parish Church
Prayer Bulletin – April 2026
1st The Pool and Knit and Natter Groups meet today and we ask that all will enjoy their time
together.
Easter week is a physically and spiritually demanding time for Katherine and all ministers.
Pray for strength, joy and peace for Katherine and others in full-time ministry, as well as
fresh energy and inspiration.
2nd We welcome children, staff and parents from Elphinstone Primary School to our church
building this morning for their Easter service. Pray that all present may be inspired by Jesus
and the story of Easter. Today term ends for many schools. Ask for God to restore the
energy of His people and for good times together for families where they can draw closer to
God. Pray for the young people in Tranent who find it hard to go to school, asking that they
receive the help they need. Pray that the adults who care for them have wisdom and
patience.
3rd This Good Friday let us all consider the massive sacrifice that Jesus made on the
cross, dying so that all our sins are forgiven. Pray that the Lord’s people will be
challenged, assured and invited by our great Saviour on this day when we remember
the path He took for us to be saved. We walk round Tranent with other churches this
Good Friday and may our witness speak to those who see us.
Katherine will lead worship this evening and as we mediate on Jesus’s Crucifixion
pray that we will understand afresh the depth of His love for each one of us that took
Him to the cross. Please pray that the service will go well.
4th Pray that the Easter Play in Princes Street Gardens today will move and convict all who
watch. We thank God for those who reach out with the Gospel through music and the arts.
Give thanks for organisations such as Origin and Cutting Edge Theatre as their members
use their God-given skills and abilities to bring glory to His name.
We pray for the residents and staff in the care homes and sheltered housing in Tranent and
give thanks for being able to hold services in these homes.
5th He is risen, He is risen indeed! Let us rejoice that Jesus conquered death and
rose from the grave, giving us the promise of eternal life. Praise God for this and all
the great things He has done for you and those dear to you. Pray that today’s
morning worship led by Katherine will be a joyful celebration of Christ’s triumph over
the grave. May all who attend enjoy the time of fellowship and celebrate His
resurrection and the gift of new life.
Tonight Origin’s Resurrection event will be held at the Usher Hall. It is one of the
largest Christian events in Scotland and is a wonderful opportunity for the Church in
south-east Scotland to unite around the resurrection of Jesus and show our unity as
we celebrate the greatest event in history. Pray to God that all the preparations will
go well and it will be a great evening of worship.
6th May all who will be on holiday this month, including Katherine, enjoy a time of rest and
relaxation during their breaks.

Holiday Clubs in our region. Pray for all the children who will come, that God will already be
speaking to the hearts of those children and their families. Finally pray that all the
organisational work will go smoothly.

dedication of those who created it and keep it looking lovely.
Pray for Syria and the vast uncertainty following the collapse of the previous regime. Pray
that one dictatorship does not replace another and all communities live free in a lasting
peace. Especially remember Christians who are risk of being targeted as they are seen as
having been loyal to the ex-government.
10th Praise God for all the amazing opportunities for our church and other Christian
organisations to partner with His people throughout our wonderful town. Pray for even
greater unity and passion for His name and glory, never our own.
Please pray for those in need of support through the East Lothian Foodbank, that their

their hearts.

satisfaction as they serve Christ in our community by putting on this important time for free
each week.

they would understand the priority they need to give to make huge changes in areas of
travel, food production and heating buildings. Pray that we may be active citizens and take
appropriate action where we are able to influence policies and decision-making in these vital
areas for future generations.

people be added to the groups over the coming weeks.

price of food and clothing has also increased greatly and they are having to make difficult
choices. Give wisdom to those in government as they seek solutions to these complex
problems.
23rd Please uplift in prayer to God all the persecuted Christians in the world. May they
continue to stand firm in the faith despite the hard times they face. Ask God to show His
power so they know He is with them every step of the way during their time of suffering
because of their faith in Him, especially those mourning a lost loved one or those who are
unjustly in jail. May God continue to provide all the resources needed to the organisations
that support our persecuted brothers and sisters in Christ.
24th Mark 16 v 6 states “You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He
